First few days in Bangkok

soooo....arrived at the airport at about 8 in the morning after flying from Heathrow to Mumbai then Mumbai to Bangkok, the flight was fairly seamless and was lucky enough to get an awesome seat on the journeys first leg! anyway as i was saying...so first things first change in to my shorts and tee because OMG it was fooking hot!! then set out on a mission to find transport to the famous Khao San road.
so remembering the advice someone had given me on the net to avoid the taxi touts in the airport i followed signs for public taxi's where sure enough i was greeted by fluorescent yellow and pink taxi's and tuk tuk's for as far as i could see!! so in the taxi i got and of to Khao San i went!

once i arrived at the top end of Khao San i payed the nice taxi man (who's name was Chicken) a mere 400 baht equivalent to £8 for a 2 hour journey, not bad i thought!
so there i was at the top end of the famous Khao San road, a central fenced off road full of western travelers, thai market owners, pubs, clubs, ping pong shows, prostitutes, hotels, food stalls, oh and a boots for good mesures! i had read allot about it but reading and experiencing are two very different things as i was about to find out!
the road was only about maybe 150 meters long but it will take you at least an hour to walk down it, it was like a bee hive of activity and every time i walked down it i saw something different to the last time.
i eventually found my hotel, the Hotel Rikka recommended to my by Stuart (robs dad) and what a good recommendation that turned out to be, it is like four star luxury but for £20 a night! oh and it has a rooftop bar and swimming pool!!

so the first thing i did was sleep, only to be woken up at about 10 in the evening by music outside, i got dressed and when to see what all the fuss was about and there it was khao san in all its glory, dj's outside forming mini street partys, girls with wheelbarrows full of booze, neon lights, it was like nothing i had ever seen before! so i found a nice bar (the busiest so i assumed the best) and was greeted by a waiter who seated me (on my own :( )  and took my order (a jug of beer for 50 baht aka £1) so there i was just taking in the atmosphere and people watching and it was great! then a few english lads saw me on my own and invited me to sit with them, the rest i dont really remember but what i do remember of the night it was o good one!!

so woke up the next day (today) feeling good so decided to plan where i wanted to go and implement it so mapped out the things i wanted to do and see and started to work on the logistics, once all that was sorted i headed out to find some food.....this did not end up as planned!!! i ended up playing with a little monkey in the street and dancing with it for money with its owner, only to be approached by a street dancing crew who asked if i would dance with them to attract a crowd (crowds mean money to them) so i naturally obliged and had a cracking time, obviously loosing but i got given a little buddha for my efforts :D i think the lads earned about the equivalent of £100 which ent to bad for 30 mins dancing lol. so still hungry and in need to see a little more of bangkok i found myself a tuk tuk driver (not hard, they find you really) and asked him to take me somewhere for food, he said ok and drove me like a maniac through the streets of bangkok to a food market, baring in mind this is at 1am it was ful of people it was crazy, bangkok has 2 sets of citizens im sure one set for day and one for night!!
now for those of you who read my Facebook updates, yes it was hear i fell out the tuk tuk! the driver stopped a little too quick for my reaction times and i flew out the side door on a busy main road!!! funny yes, dangerous yes, driver found it funny yes lol

so there we go my first couple of days in thailand......tomorrow im going down south to Koh Samui island and probably spend a couple of weeks on that island and a couple next to it as well, then maybe off to Phuket then down to Singapore, and yes there has been flooding down there but i have been assured it will be fine to travel there!! (i hope)

so speak to you all soon!
